Izhevsk is situated in the western part of the Middle Urals – 1,200 km eastwards from Moscow. The most commonly used ways to get to Izhevsk are air and railway transport.
Most international flights arrive in three main Moscow airports – Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo. From Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo you can take a connecting flight to Izhevsk. The flight takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. The ticket costs in the range 2000-4000 rubles. You can also fly to Kazan 300 km away from Izhevsk and take a train.
Another option is to go from Moscow by train. The trip takes about 17 hours. The trains to Izhevsk leave either from Kazansky or Kursky railway stations in Moscow, located near the subway stations «Komsomolskaya» and «Kurskaya», respectively. In this case, you should use aeroexpress + subway. The train tickets can be bought online on the webpage of Russian Railways. The price is in the range 1000-2000 rubles.
