A group of researchers of Department of Constructional Materials, Mechanization and Geo-Engineering of ISTU: Prof. G.I. Yakovlev, Assoc. Prof. I.A. Pudov, Assoc. Prof. I.S. Polyanskikh, senior lecturer Z.S. Saidova visited Egyptian-Russian University following the invitation of its President Prof. Sherif Abd Elnaby in the period from 23 till 30 October. The aim of the visit was to meet ERU staff to discuss issues of cooperation in the field of educational and research activities.

The guests from Izhevsk visited all six buildings of the partner university with laboratories and lecture rooms and mentioned that ERU has significantly progressed in recent years in laboratory equipment and devices used in the educational process and preparation of dissertations; our researchers also participated in the conference of master and PhD students of Civil Engineering Faculty.  

In the frameworks of Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the research results in the field of silicate electrically conductive composites and development of mineral coatings for facades of buildings were presented to Egyptian colleagues, joint researches in developing fireproof coatings for building structures and materials were also discussed. At the meeting with Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Head of CMB-group, which has been cooperating with Department of Constructional Materials, Mechanization and Geo-Engineering for a long time, the work on developing facade coating was discussed. Within a possible future contract, the sample of single-component dry mixture for facade coating was presented.  

Also there was a meeting with Prof. Saed Shebl, Director of Institute of Construction at Egyptian State Construction Committee during which the participants discussed organizational issues of the forthcoming 14th International Conference on Sustainable Green Construction and Nano-Technology in March 2023 (Kalashnikov ISTU is a co-organizer from Russian side) on the dates, information sponsors, participation of young researchers and PhD students of ISTU in the work of the conference and publication of their papers in scientific journals with high impact factor included in Scopus databases. 

According to Prof. Yakovlev, «... we met with Dr. Mohamed Saber and Dr. Elrefaei Ali Elsayed who had prepared and defended their PhD theses under my scientific supervision.   Both of them are working at the department, we continue our cooperation in the field of nanotechnologies and publish the results of joint researches. 

Dr. Elrefaei Ali Elsayed helped our group a lot during our stay in Egypt. We hope that soon we’ll be able to invite him to our university not only as a guest but also as a co-executor in joint research projects, which we planned during our visit to ERU».
